The congregation gathered around a St. John's fire to listen to a story

Rev. Bridgette Siepker tells the story of Opherus, who is determined to serve the greatest king. After serving human kings and the devil, he hears of Christ. He becomes a servant to travellers at a river crossing and one night meets the Christ child and carries him on his shoulders across the raging river. He feels the weight of the world that this child bears but continues safely to the other bank. Having been the bearer of Christ, he is named Christopherus and he has fulfilled his mission.
