reported by John-Peter Gernaat
The Gospel Study concluded the study of the Gospel of Luke with the events leading from the Garden of Gethsemane to the meal in Emmaus. When Cleopas and his companion realise that Christ has walked with them along the way and sat down to supper with them, they wish to remain conscious of the new understanding that the day has brought them.
We are now always in the consciousness of the light of Christ. Paul entreats us to “pray always”. This means deciding to live a life dedicated to a conscious state of who we are and how we are related. Living in the consciousness of “Christ’s light in our daylight”. The way of Right Contemplation involves being consciously connected to the source which we understand as the Power of Christ. The substance of everything is the gift of the Father; the ability to transform is the gift of the Son; the capacity to understand the two realities is the gift of the Spirit. Every time we hear “Christ in you” during the Act of Consecration of Man, it is an introduction to a new step along this eight-fold Christian path that we have just studied.
